Engender Self-Sufficiency & Increase Graduation Rates

Through discussions with our teachers and community elders, we realized that we needed to add a practical, valuable trade to our school curriculum. Now, in addition to core academics, we provide sewing and embroidery classes. Upon graduation from sixth grade, each girl receives her own sewing machine, enabling her to earn money with her skills. Since we added these classes, graduation rates have more than doubled and some of our students have even continued on to Pakistani secondary schools – a huge victory over the past!
